Big Boy Haircut

We went to Orlando over Memorial Day weekend to visit with Aunt Lisa and Uncle Mike. While we were there, mommy took me to a really cool sports themed hair salon for men and boys, and I got my first big boy haircut!
I was really good for most of the haircut. I played with mommy's iPhone and a truck and I got to eat two lollypops!
I wiggled around a little bit, but the stylist (Allison) was a pro! She kept up with me and didn't give up!!
I love my new haircut, and my mommy does, too. She says my mullet is gone... hallelujah!

I Love My Boots!

It's true...... I have the shoe addiction my mommy has! She recently bought me a pair of rain boots that look like frogs. I just love these boots! I can pull them on all by myself and I have learned that if I wear them in the baby pool, my feet don't get wet!
I call my boots "Boo" because my english isn't that good yet. In any case, my mommy undersatands when I call out for my "boo", and the other night I just didn't want to take them off, so my mommy let me wear them to bed! I didn't take them off all night long, and when I woke up the next morning, my feet were hot and sweaty, but it was worth it, because my "boo" are so cool!!!!!

Reading is Fundamental!

I have recently discovered a love for books... My mommy bought me a ton of great books, and I love to carry them around the house and look at the pictures. Every night my mommy helps me identify the things in the pictures. It really helps me learn to speak. So far (at 20 months) I can say almost 20 words. My first word was “Dog”…. then “Ball”…. then “uh oh”. My favorite word this week is “Bubbles”.

My Aunt Lisa sent me a box of really cool books with fire trucks and school buses! I can't say those words yet, but I try awfully hard!

Happy Easter!

My mommy took me to the pre-school Easter Egg Hunt at my new church this week. Mommy tried to practice picking up eggs with me before the hunt, but I didn't want to bother... little did she know that I would be an expert egg hunter!
The Easter Egg Hunt had to be held indoors this year due to monsoon rain storms. However, the location didn't phase me a bit! I immediately grabbed my dinosaur egg basket and gathered a basket full of colorful Easter Eggs! I actually gathered more than I was allotted, and mommy had to put some of the eggs back for the other kids. I wasn't happy about that, but I got over it as soon as got to sample a bit of the candy I discovered inside the eggs!
After egg hunting, I had a snack and played with the bubble machine with a few of the other kids. Did I mention, I LOVE BUBBLES!!!! Bubbles make me so happy! I love bubbles so much that I can say the word completely without mistake or confusion!
Bubbles and Easter Egg hunting... a perfect day!

Coloring Fool!

Recently, I have been very busy learning to draw! I love to draw with crayons and markers and ink pens.... Last week, I got into the jar of permenant markers on my mommy's desk and drew on the top of her desk in several colors! She was irritated with me... but she got it all cleaned up. Now she makes me sit in my highchair when I color. I can also tell you that the crayola washable markers taste really good! I colored on my face and discovered they are flavored!

St. George Island

Mommy and I went to visit Miss Paula and Miss Linnie at at Miss Linnie's beach house on St. George Island, Florida. I had a lot of fun playing on the beach. I ran, and ran, and ran and played in the surf until I was exhusted! There were tons of shells to investigate and occasionally a visitor or a dog would walk by to say hello.

I am looking forward to visiting mommy's friends at the beach house again, very soon!

Halloween 2008

It's Halloween again... my Mommy's favorite time of the year! I have a really cool costume... I'm a scary pirate! We went to the photo studio the other day and I got to dress up in my costume and I had my pictures taken.
I have a lot of plans on Halloween this year... I am marching in a parade at a nursing home with a bunch of other kids, then I am going to a halloween picnic, and later in the evening I am going to my friend Riley's house for a party and trick-o-treating! I'm sure I'll enjoy the Halloween festivities, but I'm most excited about swinging my sword around... because it makes a lot of noise!
Aaaarrrrrrgggggggghhhhhhhhhhhhh, matey!!

Riding My Bike With Mommy!

Now that I am 1 year old, I can ride on the bike with Mommy! She bought me a really cool bike seat and a red helmet, and we have been riding the bike around the neighborhood!

Lots of people wave to me and tell me I look really cool!

I really like my helmet. Sometimes, I put it on and just walk around the house. I look tough in my bike helmet!

It's My 1st Birthday!

It is August 2, 2008! You know what that means, don't you? I am no longer a little baby... It's my first birthday and I am one year old!

My Mommy and Aunt Lisa organized a family birthday party for me at the beach today. Aunt Mary and Uncle John and all my cousins were there to help me open presents and eat cake.

We had lots of fun and Mommy took a million pictures... as usual! I made a big mess with the blue icing on my cake. I got it all over my body and in my hair! Later, when I took a bath, the bath water turned a lovely shade of light blue! Uncle John said the bathwater matched the ocean water!

I Can Walk!

Guess what?! I am 11 months old now, and these are pictures my Mommy took of me taking my first steps! (Mommy and her camera have not failed me yet!) I am not very good at walking yet, but I'm sure it won't be long until I am moving around faster than lightning!

Do you think my mommy will regret teaching me to walk at 11 months?!

My Friend, Eitan!

I have a friend named Eitan who lives down the street from me. He is 2 months older than I am. We like to play together and our Mommies are friends, too!

Today Eitan came over to play with me. We tried to put together a wooden puzzle, but we couldn't fit the pieces into the spaces. When we got board with the puzzle, our mommies took us for a walk to the park.

Playing in the Backyard!

My Mommy finally got rid of all the dead grass in the backyard and installed "turf" so it would be a cleaner and safer place for me to play. I love the new grass! It's so green! and Mommy doesn't have to mow it! I can't wait to get bigger so I can ride my bike in the back yard. My doggie Pearl, likes the new grass, too. She rolls around on it and sleeps on it a lot. But don't worry.... she only poops in the bushes, NOT on the new grass!!

I can Sit Up!

I did it! ...I am finally able to situp all by myself!
My Mommy took this picture of me sitting up for the very first time - without any help. She carries that camera around with her all the time, just hoping to catch my progress moments on film!
My balance is not very good yet.... so I need to use my arms and hands for support. But, I am getting bigger and stronger everyday and I hope to me mobile very soon!

St Pete Beach!

My Mommy took me to the beach today. We went to the Don CeSar Resort in St Pete Beach to watch the sunset.

I LOVE sitting in the sand! I played while Mommy took a million photos of me and the pretty sunset... It was a little cold, so I didn't get to play in the water.

Guess what?! Can you believe I didn't put any sand in my mouth? It's true!

Halloween 2007

My First Halloween!
So far, I love Halloween! My Mommy likes to decorate for Halloween, so we went to a pumpkin patch to get some pumpkins for the front porch. Some of the pumpkins were bigger than me!
Then my Mommy dressed me up in the coolest costume... I was a lobster! Unfortunately we live in Tampa, Florida, and it was kinda warm on Halloween and my costume was really hot, so I couldn't wear it for very long.

Ivey Family Reunion

We had a very exciting weekend! I got to travel to another state, and I met a bunch of my Mommy's relatives. We drove from Tampa, Florida to Dothan, Alabama (along with Uncle John's family) to attend the Ivey Family Reunion" at my Great Uncle Henry's farm.
I love Uncle Henry's farm! We got to bottle feed some calves, we went on a hay ride, and we saw a brand new baby calf - only hours old...
Of course, we watched some Auburn football, and everyone ate a lot of great southern cooked food! (Mommy said she gained 10 pounds in one day. She's not doing very well on her diet!)

Aunt Lisa's 50th Birthday

Mommy planned a family surprise party for Aunt Lisa's 50th birthday. Uncle John, his family, Mommy, and I drove 2 hours to Aunt Lisa's house in Lake Mary, Florida (north of Orlando) early this morning.Mommy brought the people, the cake, party supplies, and the presents! When we arrived, we all snuck into the house to put up the party decorations while Aunt Lisa was in the shower.
Aunt Lisa was really surprised when she came out of the shower and saw us all in her kitchen... she even started to cry a little bit! When she pulled herself together, she blew out the candles, cut the cake, and opened her gifts. I think she was very pleased with the small family surprise party... and I liked visiting with my cousins in Aunt Lisa's house!!

My Cousin Mary Cothran Visits!

My Mommy's cousin Leslee, and her daughter Mary Cothran came to visit me this week. Mommy and Leslee had such a good time hanging out with each other! They spent all of their time shopping for baby clothes on ebay and taking pictures of Mary Cothran and me. It was a fun week. I can't wait to see them again next month at the Ivey family reunion...

Naked Baby Photos!

When my Mommy found out she was pregnant, she bought a fancy digital camera and is convinced she is going to take a million pictures of me. Well, it all started today! She stripped all of my clothes off and took naked baby pictures of me. (How embarrassing!!)

Aunt Lisa & Aunt Mary

Today my Aunt Lisa and my Aunt Mary came to visit me to help my Mommy take care of me for a few days. Aunt Lisa drove over from Orlando, and Aunt Mary flew in from Kansas City, Kansas! My Aunt Lisa was at the hospital when I was born. This was the first time I got to meet my Aunt Mary. (She sounds a lot like my Mommy.) Both of my Aunts love me and hold me and take really good care of me. I love them, too.

Aunt Mary gave me my first bath! The feeling of the water was interesting... it surprised me, but I didn't mind being bathed. I'm an easy-going baby. My Mommy says, "God gives you only what you can handle"... I guess that's why I'm so good!
My Mommy is recovering from her Cesarean Section surgery very quickly, but she is very greatful her sisters have come to help take care of me so she can get some rest!

Visiting My Cousins

Hi! I'm Jake...
I'm two weeks old, and today I made my first trip across town to see my cousins.

Megan, Emma, and Lauren live with my Uncle John & Aunt Laura in "The Eagles" subdivision in Oldsmar, which is in northwest Tampa.

I was very good on the 40 minute car ride and didn't cry, so Mommy didn't freak out and wreck the car.

Uncle John took lots of pictures of me and that made Mommy happy... Megan (6 years old) wanted to hold me and feed me... Emma and Lauren wanted to "pet" me... Aunt Laura wanted to smell me and she told everyone she wants to have another baby! Mommy told her she was crazy!

I think it was a good day. I like my cousins and I am looking forward to growing bigger so I can play with them.

Welcome Home, baby Jake!

Baby Jake arrived at his home in Tampa, Florida this afternoon. His nursery has been ready and waiting for him for months! Jake didn't seem to notice all the hard work Mommy put into decorating his room with colorful surfboards and playful puppies, but that's OK, the decorations are mostly for Mommy's pleasure at the moment!

4:58 pm

On August 2, 2007, after a long and uncomfortable pregnancy, we were finally able to welcome baby Jake Haddox Twilley into the world! Baby Jake had a little difficulty adjusting to the elements outside of Mommy's tummy, but he is doing very well and is eager to eat and snuggle!
Jake is named after his great grand father: Haddox Leroy Twilley. When gramps was told Jake was named after him, his response was, "why in the world did you name that child Haddox?!"
